Swing-Events in Bordeaux

Swing music emerged in the United States during the late 1920s and flourished as the dominant form of popular music throughout the 1930s and 1940s. It is characterized by its use of large big band ensembles featuring brass and woodwind sections anchored by a driving rhythm section of piano, double bass, and drums. The genre's defining feature is the swing feel, where eighth notes are played in a triplet-based, loping rhythm that emphasizes the off-beat, creating a high-energy, infectious sense of forward motion. While it shares harmonic roots with traditional jazz, swing focuses more on arranged compositions and danceability, serving as a critical bridge to jump blues and the eventual birth of rock and roll.
