Coupe Decale-Events in Brüssel

Coupé-Décalé originated in the early 2000s within the Ivorian diaspora in Paris before exploding in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, as a vibrant cultural movement. This high-energy dance genre is characterized by sharp, syncopated 4/4 rhythms, heavy digital percussion, and a blend of bright synthesizers with repetitive, looping guitar melodies. Its mood is resolutely celebratory and hedonistic, emphasizing themes of wealth, status, and luxury as a form of psychological escapism and social defiance against economic hardship. Deeply rooted in Congolese Soukous and Rumba, it integrates modern Hip-Hop aesthetics and electronic production to create a dominant African pop sound fundamentally inseparable from its associated Sagacité lifestyle and choreography.
