Neo Psychedelic-Events in Brüssel

Neo-psychedelic music emerged during the late 1970s post-punk era as a revitalization of the experimental spirit and sonic aesthetics of 1960s psychedelia. Typical instrumentation features layered, effect-laden electric guitars, analog synthesizers, and often incorporates sitars or unconventional melodic structures to create an immersive, surreal atmosphere. The genre is characterized by hypnotic, mid-tempo rhythms and circular grooves that evoke a dreamy, introspective mood, differing from its predecessor by integrating modern production techniques and a darker, post-punk edge. It serves as a vital bridge between classic psychedelic rock and later movements like shoegaze and dream pop, maintaining a focus on expansive soundscapes and altered states of consciousness.
