Harmonica Blues-Events diese Woche in Bukarest

Harmonica blues, also known as harp blues, emerged from the rural Mississippi Delta in the early 20th century as a portable, expressive extension of the human voice. This genre is defined by the central role of the diatonic harmonica, typically accompanied by acoustic or electric guitar, driving shuffle rhythms, and a call-and-response structure. Tempos range from slow, mournful dirges to high-energy, amplified stomps characteristic of the later Chicago urban style. Semantically, it serves as a bridge between traditional country blues and the electric blues movement, emphasizing virtuosic breath control, blue notes, and a raw, gritty emotional resonance that remains foundational to the broader blues and rock traditions.
