Glitch Pop-Events in Budapest

Glitch pop emerged in the late 1990s as a fusion of the experimental, error-driven aesthetics of glitch music and the structured melodicism of contemporary pop. The genre is characterized by its heavy use of digital artifacts, such as bitcrushing, vinyl crackle, and stuttering CD-skip effects, which are layered over synthesizers and programmed drums. While the rhythm often feels syncopated or erratic due to its IDM origins, the genre maintains a strong pop sensibility through polished vocal delivery and catchy hooks. This creates a mood that is simultaneously futuristic and nostalgic, bridging the gap between avant-garde electronics and mainstream accessibility, eventually influencing the rise of the hyperpop movement.
