Drill-Events diesen Monat in Hamburg

Drill is a subgenre of trap music that originated in Chicago’s South Side during the early 2010s, later evolving into prominent UK and Brooklyn-based movements. Characterized by its dark, nihilistic lyrical content and ominous atmosphere, the genre typically features sliding 808 basslines, rapid-fire hi-hat patterns, and syncopated snare placements. Musically, it operates at a moderate to fast tempo, often around 140 BPM, utilizing minor-key synth melodies or haunting orchestral samples to evoke a sense of tension and street-level urgency. While it shares structural similarities with broader hip-hop, its distinct focus on percussive fluidity and raw, gritty production differentiates it as a central pillar of contemporary urban music.
