Albanian Folk-Konzerte und Live-Shows in Kozani

Albanian folk music is a rich traditional genre rooted in the Balkan Peninsula, characterized by its distinct regional division between the epic, heroic Geg styles of the north and the polyphonic, lyrical Tosk traditions of the south. Common instrumentation includes the çifteli, a two-stringed lute, the lahuta, and the tupan drum, which drive intricate, often irregular rhythmic meters such as 7/8. The music spans a wide emotional spectrum, from somber historic ballads and laments to energetic, celebratory dance tunes used in communal festivities. As a foundational element of Albanian cultural identity, it shares structural affinities with broader Balkan folk traditions while maintaining unique iso-polyphonic vocal techniques recognized globally for their complexity and ancient heritage.
