Belarusian Rock-Events dieses Wochenende in Kraków

Belarusian rock emerged during the late 1970s and 1980s as a powerful medium for cultural expression and political dissent within the Soviet Union, later evolving into a cornerstone of national identity. The genre typically utilizes standard rock instrumentation, including electric guitars, bass, and drums, frequently enriched by traditional folk instruments like the lyre or bagpipes to highlight local heritage. Musically, it encompasses a range from driving hard rock and post-punk to melodic folk-rock, maintaining moderate tempos and a characteristically serious, often melancholic or defiant mood. Closely tied to the broader Eastern European underground movement, Belarusian rock is fundamentally defined by its lyrical emphasis on social justice and national consciousness.
