Dark Hardcore-Events in London

Dark hardcore, often referred to as darkcore, emerged in the early 1990s UK rave scene as a moody, aggressive evolution of breakbeat hardcore and early jungle. The genre is characterized by frantic, syncopated breakbeats typically ranging between 150 and 170 BPM, paired with heavy, distorted sub-bass lines and eerie, minor-key synthesizers. Producers frequently incorporate ominous atmospheres, cinematic horror-movie samples, and industrial textures to create a sense of dread and high-intensity sonic claustrophobia. This style serves as a critical bridge between the upbeat rave sounds of the early nineties and the more technical, somber aesthetics found in later techstep and dark-drum-and-bass subgenres.
