Filter House-Events in London

Emerging in the mid-to-late 1990s, particularly in France, Filter House is a subgenre of house music defined by its heavy and dynamic use of audio frequency filters. It primarily utilizes Roland TR-909 drum machines and TB-303 basslines, layered with disco or funk samples that undergo dramatic low-pass or high-pass sweeps to create rhythmic sonic movement. The rhythm is defined by a steady four-on-the-floor kick drum typically set between 124 and 128 BPM, creating a hypnotic, pumping effect often enhanced by heavy side-chain compression. The genre's mood is inherently uplifting and energetic, bridging the gap between underground Chicago house and mainstream electronic dance music through its emphasis on repetitive tension and texture.
