Jazz Blues-Events dieses Wochenende in London

Jazz blues emerged in the mid-20th century as a sophisticated fusion that integrates the 12-bar structural framework of blues with the complex harmonic vocabulary and improvisational fluidity of jazz. Characterized by a distinctive swing or shuffle feel, the genre typically features instrumentation such as saxophone, trumpet, piano, and hollow-body electric guitar supported by a walking upright bass line. Tempos are predominantly moderate, creating a mood that balances the raw emotional grit of the Delta with the urban polish of bebop. This hybrid form serves as a critical bridge between swing-era big bands and the later development of hard bop and soul jazz, emphasizing technical virtuosity within a soulful, accessible melodic context.
