Jazz Organ-Events dieses Wochenende in London

Jazz organ emerged in the late 1940s as a powerful alternative to the big band sound, gaining massive popularity through the iconic Hammond B-3 organ. This genre typically features a trio format comprising the organist, a drummer, and a guitarist or saxophonist, where the organist skillfully manages melody, harmony, and walking bass lines simultaneously. Characterized by its percussive attack, soulful Leslie speaker vibrato, and strong gospel and blues influences, the music ranges from slow, emotive ballads to high-energy, swinging shuffles. Serving as a foundational element of soul-jazz and hard bop, jazz organ bridged the gap between liturgical traditions and modern secular improvisation, creating a gritty, immersive sonic experience.
