Jazz Vibraphone-Events dieses Wochenende in London

Jazz vibraphone is a specialized subgenre of jazz defined by the prominent use of the vibraphone, an idiophone that emerged as a soloistic powerhouse in the 1930s through the work of Lionel Hampton. The genre utilizes metal bars and motor-driven rotating fans within resonators to create a distinct shimmering vibrato, often accompanied by a standard jazz rhythm section of bass, drums, and piano. Rhythmic structures typically involve sophisticated swing patterns or complex bebop syncopation, while tempos range from atmospheric ballads to high-energy uptempo improvisations. This style bridges the gap between the percussive clarity of mallet instruments and the melodic fluidity of brass, offering a uniquely crystalline and ethereal sonic texture within the broader jazz tradition.
