Red Dirt-Events in London

Originating from Stillwater, Oklahoma, in the late 1970s, Red Dirt is a distinct subgenre of country music that emphasizes lyrical authenticity and independent production. The instrumentation typically centers on acoustic and electric guitars, supported by fiddles, harmonicas, and a sturdy rhythm section, creating a sound that bridges the gap between traditional country and gritty Southern rock. Its rhythmic structure is generally grounded in steady mid-tempo 4/4 signatures, while the mood remains stubbornly blue-collar and unpretentious. Semantically, it is closely aligned with Americana and Outlaw Country, though it maintains a specific regional identity rooted in the Red Dirt soil of the American Southern Plains.
