Solo Wave-Events in London

Solo wave is a contemporary subgenre emerging from the intersections of darkwave, synth-pop, and coldwave, specifically characterized by its focus on individual multi-instrumentalists. Originating in the DIY bedroom production scenes of the 21st century, the genre utilizes vintage analog synthesizers, drum machines, and reverb-drenched vocals to create an intimate, introspective atmosphere. Musically, it often features steady, mid-tempo 4/4 rhythms and melancholic melodic structures that mirror the isolation inherent in its one-person production model. As a derivative of the broader wave family, solo wave maintains a semantic bridge between the raw energy of post-punk and the polished, nostalgic textures of modern electronic music, emphasizing personal expression over collaborative complexity.
