Soul Jazz-Events dieses Wochenende in London

Soul jazz emerged in the late 1950s as a rhythmic evolution of hard bop, heavily incorporating stylistic elements from gospel, rhythm and blues, and the traditional blues. Primarily characterized by the Hammond B-3 organ, tenor saxophone, and electric guitar, it emphasizes a strong, earthy groove and syncopated feel over complex harmonic improvisation. The genre often features infectious shuffle or swing rhythms at moderate tempos, creating a warm, accessible mood that prioritized catchy melodic hooks and expressive, soulful phrasing. Positioned semantically between the intellectual rigor of bebop and the dance-oriented focus of early funk, soul jazz remains a critical foundational pillar of contemporary groove-based instrumental music.
