Acid House-Events in Los Angeles

Emerging from Chicago in the mid-1980s through pioneers like Phuture, acid house is a subgenre of house music defined by the distinctive squelching sounds of the Roland TB-303 bass synthesizer. The genre is characterized by hypnotic, repetitive 4/4 rhythms, typically produced by Roland drum machines, maintaining a steady tempo between 120 and 130 BPM. Its aesthetic is deeply psychedelic and trance-inducing, bridging the gap between traditional house and the emerging rave culture of the late 1980s. This style prioritized synthetic, resonant frequency sweeps over melodic complexity, creating a raw, energetic sound that revolutionized electronic dance music across the Atlantic, particularly within the United Kingdom's Second Summer of Love.
