Lo Fi House-Events in Los Angeles

Lo-fi house emerged in the mid-2010s as a nostalgic, DIY-focused subgenre of deep house, characterized by its intentionally raw and unpolished production aesthetic. The genre typically utilizes classic drum machines like the Roland TR-909 and TR-808, heavily processed through tape saturation and distortion to create a warm, hazy atmosphere filled with vinyl crackle and muffled synth pads. Maintaining a standard house tempo between 120 and 128 BPM, the rhythms often feature a subtle swing or wonky feel that distinguishes it from more clinical club productions. Emotionally, the genre sits between melancholic longing and relaxed euphoria, bridging the gap between underground Detroit techno and the internet-driven aesthetics of vaporwave and lo-fi hip hop.
