Tejano-Events in Los Angeles

Tejano music, also known as Tex-Mex, originated in the late 19th century among the Mexican-American populations of Central and South Texas. This hybrid genre seamlessly blends traditional Mexican folk elements like ranchera and mariachi with European influences such as polka and waltz, which were introduced by German and Czech immigrants. Typical instrumentation features the button accordion and bajo sexto, though modern evolutions incorporate synthesizers and electric guitars to create a polished, pop-oriented sound. The music is characterized by its infectious rhythmic drive and upbeat mood, serving as a cultural bridge that connects rural folk traditions with contemporary American popular music.
