New Romantic-Events in Madrid

New Romantic emerged from the United Kingdom's nightclub scene in the late 1970s as a flamboyant reaction against the austere aesthetic of punk rock. Characterized by heavy use of synthesizers, drum machines, and polished melodic hooks, the genre blends the electronic innovation of synth-pop with the glam rock theatricality of David Bowie. Its rhythm typically maintains a steady, danceable mid-tempo pulse, while the mood oscillates between lush romanticism and futuristic melancholia. Semantically, it occupies a bridge between post-punk's experimentation and the high-production commerciality of 1980s new wave, emphasizing a visual-centric approach to musical performance and identity.
