New Wave Pop-Events in Madrid

Emerging in the late 1970s and peaking throughout the early 1980s, New Wave Pop evolved from the raw energy of punk rock into a more polished, commercially viable sound. It is characterized by the prominent use of synthesizers, electronic drum machines, and catchy guitar hooks, blending traditional rock elements with emerging digital technology. The genre typically features upbeat, danceable tempos and a bright, melodic sensibility that emphasizes accessible song structures and vocal-forward hooks. Often conveying a quirky, ironic, or stylized emotional tone, it serves as a bridge between the rebellious spirit of post-punk and the global dominance of 1980s synth-pop and mainstream dance music.
