Houston Rap-Events dieses Wochenende in New York City

Houston rap, originating from the urban centers of Texas in the late 1980s, is a foundational pillar of Southern hip hop characterized by its heavy use of Roland TR-808 drum machines and soulful, melodic sampling. The genre is internationally recognized for its distinctive chopped and screwed technique, which involves slowing down the tempo to a syrupy crawl and creating rhythmic stutters through record manipulation. Musically, it balances aggressive street-oriented lyricism with a hazy, psychedelic atmosphere that reflects a laid-back but gritty slab culture aesthetic. By bridging the gap between traditional boom-bap and the later emergence of trap, Houston rap remains a vital influence on contemporary urban production styles.
