Beatdown-Events dieses Wochenende in Paris

Originating from the 1990s New York and New Jersey hardcore scenes, beatdown is a heavy subgenre of hardcore punk characterized by its intense focus on slow, crushing breakdowns. The instrumentation typically features downtuned, heavily distorted electric guitars, thick bass lines, and aggressive drumming that emphasizes rhythmic impact over technical speed. Its rhythm is defined by mid-tempo verses that shift into punishingly slow tempos during climactic segments, creating a confrontational and intimidating atmosphere. Semantically positioned at the intersection of hardcore punk and groove metal, the genre prioritizes physical energy and street-oriented aggression, often eschewing traditional melodic structures for pure percussive force.
