Harpsichord-Events in Paris

Emerging during the Renaissance and reaching its peak in the Baroque era, the harpsichord genre is defined by the plucked-string mechanism of its namesake instrument and a distinctive metallic timbre. It features precise, non-dynamic articulation characterized by complex ornamentation and rhythmic clarity, creating an elegant, crisp, and intellectual mood. While predominantly associated with early music, solo sonatas, and basso continuo accompaniment, it serves as the direct historical precursor to the piano and shares structural lineage with classical and contemporary baroque-pop. This music typically operates within moderate tempos and relies on intricate polyphony, emphasizing an acoustic purity that distinguishes it from modern keyboard styles.
