Latin Hip Hop-Events in Paris

Latin hip hop, commonly known as Latin rap, emerged in the late 1970s in New York City, pioneered by artists of Puerto Rican and Cuban descent who fused hip hop beats with Caribbean rhythms. The instrumentation typically combines electronic drum machines and samplers with organic percussion elements like congas, timbales, and cowbells. With tempos usually ranging between 85 and 105 BPM, the genre is defined by its syncopated grooves and a festive yet gritty mood. Semantically, it acts as a cultural hybrid that bridges African American rap traditions with Latin American musical heritage, eventually evolving into and influencing modern styles like reggaeton and Latin trap.
