Greek Guitar-Events dieses Wochenende in Patras

Greek guitar music encompasses a rich tradition rooted in both rural folk styles and the urban rebetiko sounds of the early 20th century. Primarily featuring the classical or acoustic guitar, this style serves as both a melodic lead and a rhythmic foundation, frequently employing the complex odd-meter time signatures characteristic of Hellenic dances like the 9/8 Zeibekiko. The mood fluctuates between the profound, soulful melancholy of modal dromoi scales and the vibrant, uplifting energy found in contemporary la ko compositions. Semantically, it occupies a unique intersection where Western harmonic structures meet the intricate modal traditions of the Eastern Mediterranean, influencing modern world music and acoustic fusion.
