Drone Ambient-Events in Prag

Drone ambient is a minimalist sub-genre of ambient music that evolved from 20th-century avant-garde compositions and the experimental minimalism of figures like La Monte Young. The genre is defined by its use of sustained, overlapping tones and textures, often generated through synthesizers, electric guitars, or meticulously processed field recordings. Unlike most contemporary music, it deliberately lacks traditional rhythmic meters and melodic hooks, prioritizing deep harmonic resonance and the slow evolution of sonic layers. This creates an immersive, often transcendental atmosphere that functions semantically as an intersection between sound art and contemplative background music, distinguishing it from more melodic electronic styles through its focus on temporal stasis.
