Glitch-Events in Rotterdam

Glitch emerged in the late 1990s as an experimental electronic music genre centered on the aesthetic of digital artifacts and technological malfunctions. Its sonic palette primarily utilizes software-based synthesis, digital clipping, and processed mechanical noises, creating a texture defined by intentional errors like skipping CDs or system crashes. While tempos vary, the genre is characterized by fragmented rhythms and a clinical, cerebral mood that prioritizes intricate sound design over traditional melodic structures. Geographically and semantically linked to IDM and microsound, glitch recontextualizes technological failures into a sophisticated musical language that challenges conventional notions of audio fidelity and standard rhythmic composition.
