Oyun Havasi-Events in Rotterdam

Oyun havası is a celebratory Turkish musical genre traditionally performed at weddings and festive gatherings, functioning primarily as accompaniment for social dance. Originating from regional Anatolian folk traditions, the genre typically features a mix of acoustic instruments like the bağlama, zurna, and darbuka alongside modern electronic keyboards and clarinets. Its rhythmic structure is characterized by high-tempo, syncopated patterns often utilizing 2/4 or complex 9/8 meters that drive vigorous physical movement. The mood is inherently joyful and high-energy, establishing a semantic bridge between traditional Turkish folk music and contemporary dance-pop through its emphasis on groove and melodic repetition.
