Post Rock-Events diesen Monat in Rotterdam

Post-rock is a diverse subgenre of rock music characterized by the use of traditional rock instrumentation for purposes other than those typically found in rock, such as exploring textures and timbres. Originating in the late 1980s through experimental acts like Talk Talk and Slint, the genre often favors long-form, largely instrumental compositions that build through gradual crescendos. Instrumentation typically includes electric guitars used as ambient soundscapes, drums with complex rhythms, and occasionally orchestral elements or electronic synthesizers. The mood is predominantly cinematic and introspective, blending the experimental spirit of krautrock and shoegaze with a profound emphasis on soundscape atmosphere over traditional verse-chorus song structures.
