Soulful House-Events in Rotterdam

Soulful house is a sophisticated sub-genre of house music that emerged in the late 1980s from the garage-influenced scenes of Chicago and New Jersey. Characterized by deep roots in gospel, jazz, and classic soul, the genre typically features lush instrumentation like Fender Rhodes pianos, melodic basslines, and powerful vocals. Rhythmically, it maintains a steady 4/4 four-on-the-floor beat, usually ranging from 122 to 126 BPM, distinguishing itself with a warmer, more organic production style than its electronic counterparts. The mood is consistently uplifting, emphasizing complex chord progressions and traditional song structures that bridge the gap between underground dance floors and mainstream R&B sensibilities.
