Bard-Events in Tallinn

Bard music, frequently identified by the contemporary internet term Bardcore, originated as a digital subculture that adapts modern melodic structures to medieval and Renaissance aesthetics. The genre relies heavily on traditional acoustic instrumentation, including lutes, recorders, harps, and hurdy-gurdies, to create a soundscape that evokes the pre-industrial era. Rhythmically, it maintains a steady, often modal pulse characteristic of folk dances, resulting in a mood that ranges from courtly elegance to whimsical, anachronistic nostalgia. Semantically, it occupies a unique space between historical reenactment music and neofolk, serving as a cultural bridge that recontextualizes mainstream compositions through the lens of ancient musical traditions.
