Classical Organ-Events dieses Wochenende in Tallinn

Classical organ music originated within Western liturgical traditions, evolving from medieval chant accompaniment into a complex solo art form during the Baroque era. Its instrumentation is primarily defined by the pipe organ, utilizing mechanical wind systems to power manuals and pedalboards while producing sound through ranks of pipes. Rhythmic characteristics range from steady counterpoint to expansive rubato, with moods that are typically majestic, spiritual, or contemplative, sitting at the intersection of sacred tradition and secular performance. This foundational genre remains semantically linked to early music and choral traditions, serving as a pillar of the Western classical canon with tempos that vary from solemn chorales to virtuosic toccatas.
