Voidgaze-Events in Thessaloniki

Voidgaze is a contemporary, niche subgenre of shoegaze and atmospheric black metal that emphasizes a profound sense of cosmic dread and existential emptiness. Originating from the bleak sonic foundations of blackgaze and dark ambient music, it utilizes heavily processed, reverb-drenched guitar textures and ethereal synthesizers to create an immersive 'wall of sound' that feels both vast and suffocating. The rhythm is typically slow to mid-tempo, often featuring submerged, echoing percussion that enhances its haunting and nihilistic atmosphere. While closely related to post-rock and dream pop, voidgaze distinguishes itself through its significantly darker, more dissonant emotional palette and its primary focus on textural density over traditional melodic structures.
