Dark Synthpop-Events in Zurich

Emerging from the late 1970s post-punk landscape, dark synthpop infuses the melodic structures of traditional synth-pop with the somber, industrial atmospheres of gothic rock. This genre is defined by its heavy reliance on analog synthesizers, driving drum machines like the Roland TR-808, and sequenced minor-key basslines that evoke a sense of noir-inspired melancholy. While maintaining danceable mid-tempo rhythms typically ranging from 100 to 120 beats per minute, the overall mood remains cold, mechanical, and introspective. It serves as a crucial bridge between mainstream electronic pop and the more aggressive textures of EBM, focusing on lyrical themes of alienation and dystopia delivered through often reverb-heavy, emotive vocal performances.
