Drum And Bass-Events in Zurich

Drum and bass emerged from the United Kingdom's breakbeat hardcore and jungle scenes during the early 1990s, evolving into a distinct genre characterized by rapid, syncopated breakbeats and heavy sub-bass lines. Typically performed at tempos between 160 and 180 beats per minute, the genre utilizes complex rhythmic patterns often sampled from funk records, such as the famous Amen break. The sound palette relies heavily on electronic synthesizers and samplers, though it frequently incorporates elements of jazz, soul, and dub to create moods ranging from aggressive to atmospheric. As a technical evolution of jungle, it emphasizes intricate percussion and deep low-end frequencies, maintaining a foundational role within global electronic dance music culture.
