Irish Shoegaze-Events in Zurich

Irish shoegaze emerged in the late 1980s and early 1990s, pioneered by iconic acts like My Bloody Valentine who redefined the boundaries of noise and melody. The genre is characterized by an extremely dense "wall of sound" achieved through complex layers of distorted guitars, heavy glide guitar techniques, and ethereal, reverb-drenched vocals. Rhythmic structures vary from steady driving pulses to atmospheric, slow-burning tempos, creating a sense of profound and immersive sonic weight. Emotionally, the genre oscillates between melancholic introspection and overwhelming sensory euphoria, acting as a critical regional bridge between noise rock and dream pop while heavily influencing the global landscape of alternative music.
