Reggaeton-Events in Zurich

Reggaeton emerged from Puerto Rico during the late 1990s as a powerful fusion of Jamaican dancehall, Panamanian reggae en español, and American hip hop. The genre is fundamentally defined by the repetitive "Dembow" rhythm, a syncopated 3-3-2 drum pattern typically produced via electronic drum machines and synthesizers. Characterized by high-energy, sensual atmospheres and urban lyrical themes, it utilizes a blend of rapping and melodic singing to drive its infectious groove. While it maintains a distinct Caribbean identity, reggaeton shares strong semantic ties with mainstream pop and trap, ultimately evolving from an underground movement into a dominant global force in contemporary dance music.
