Tango-Events diese Woche in Zurich

Tango emerged in the late 19th century within the working-class port neighborhoods of Buenos Aires and Montevideo, blending African, European, and indigenous influences. Historically characterized by the melancholic timbre of the bandoneon, instrumentation typically includes the piano, violin, and double bass within an orquestra tipica structure. The music is defined by sharp syncopation, dramatic 2/4 or 4/4 time signatures, and a pervasive sense of nostalgia and passion that oscillates between aggressive staccato movements and fluid, lyrical phrases. While sharing ancestral roots with milonga and habanera, tango evolved into a sophisticated global art form that bridges the gap between traditional folk dance, popular ballroom styles, and avant-garde concert music.
