Ein atmosphärischer, spektakulärer Animationsfilm.
Die Fabrik des Feuerwerksgeschäfts Obinata bereitet sich auf eine morgige behördliche Beschlagnahmung vor. Seit sechs Jahren schon verschanzt sich Keitaro in einer stillgelegten Fabrik, stellt dort eigenhändig Feuerwerkskörper her und jagt dabei der Illusion seines verschwundenen Vaters hinterher. Es ist die Geschichte dreier junger Menschen, die die ihnen auferlegten extremen Wetterbedingungen, Katastrophen und Umweltprobleme überwinden und ihre eigene Identität finden.

The feeling the film gave me is like someone telling me a seemingly interesting story in a confusing and counterproductive way, but it's okay cause the person looks and sounds very good, so you just kinda stare at their faces and listen to their sound, and at the end you feel like it was probably time well spent.
I didn’t get it. It might be an experimental film, an animated montage; but it felt like I was watching episode 9 of an anime series without any “previously on…” recap of the first eight.
One of the movies I was most looking forward to at Japannual 2026, but unfortunately, I came away feeling a bit let down. Based on the synopsis, I expected to be swept up in a whirlwind of emotions and perhaps even shed a few tears. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. The movie moves too quickly, the plot has some confusing elements, and the characters feel underdeveloped. The storytelling never really gives you a chance to connect with them.On the other hand, the animation is absolutely gorgeous, and the soundtrack is great.
