Prinz Akeem flieht auf der Suche nach der Traumfrau vom heimischen Zamunda in den New Yorker Stadtteil Queens. Mit seinem Vetter Semmi gibt er sich als armer Student aus und beginnt die Brautschau in Bars und Dicotheken.
