Adam Khalil and Bayley Sweitzer’s first feature as co-directors, Empty Metal takes place in a world similar to ours—one of mass surveillance, pervasive policing, and increasing individual apathy. The lives of several people, each inhabiting extreme poles of American social and political consciousness, weave together as each attempts to achieve some kind of forward motion, sometimes in contradiction, and always under the eye of far more controlling powers.

absolutely insane, promise that you aren't ready for it. defies explanation, but the filmmakers said it was a film about ideologies and politics versus characters and plots. one of the few films that seriously mulls on violence as a political tool and comes to interesting and oftentimes surprising conclusions, compacted with a vibrant and punk visual palette with off the wall editing.
Movies are kind of afraid to outright say that a call for violence is necessary for a revolution, only to hugely hint at it, to make it within a plot device for a story central to only a few characters. This movie just says outright that violence is necessary for change, that in able to enact systemic change that we need to kill capitalism and the police, the systems that control, which is such a stance to just, present without any minimal pretensions that it's just incredibly investing. There's some parts of these where I think some of the surrealism doesn't quite hit, but I think this executes its ideas in a very unique manner, nothing revolutionary or anything, but definitely very bold. Gorgeous looking movie too, although the cover makes this seem grimy when it really isn't at all.
