FREE LEONARD PELTIER thoroughly examines the American Indian Movement, the systemic discrimination against Native Americans, and Leonard Peltier’s fight for freedom. The film makes substantial use of archival footage to guide viewers through decades of history. While the pacing in the first half can be frustrating, the second half is thoroughly compelling. The newly added ending somewhat undermines the film’s central goal, but it still stands as an important historical document, highlighting the strength and resilience of Indigenous people.
