A dark, spectacular fantasy.

I think this is the second anime screening in a row where some dork has cheered when a character was about to have sex?
Another great film by Kawajiri that leaves it very clear why he has gotten such a great reputation not only in animation but cinema in general, with this film apparently being up there with Akira and Ghost in the Shell as the movies that put anime on the map for many people outside Japan. Once again, the animation is breathtaking, particularly in regards to certain character designs (most notably the villains, who looked particularly awesome) and certain gore and horror components. To be honest, I didn't find the plot as interesting as Wicked City, and I had the impression that my man Kawajiri was recycling a lot of material from his earlier works—not necessarily good material, but rather silly stuff like the world being saved only if the main guy bangs the female character. Like what? Quit being so horny! Some character designs, such as the old man, reminded me of the old man from Wicked too. Those things were a bit distracting. All in all, while I still prefer Wicked City, this was still an enjoyable and pretty original Ninja film worth watching.TODAY SCHEDULENinja ScrollWicked CityPool of LondonSorcerer
