Very impressive directing/producing/writing/starring effort from Uttera Singh. Spread its story out a little thin but there's some truly excellent stuff here

This movie was difficult to sit through, not because of any demerits of the movie but due to how claustrophobic it made me felt. Pinch follows the life of Maitri, a computer programmer turned vlogger, who was groped by a fatherly figure during a family trip. Themes of trauma, patriarchy and societal conditioning around sexual abuse are depicted with a pinch of dark humour on the side.It was interesting to see a new place, Indore, explored in the movie with its New York City apartment and Hongkong Chinese restaurant. Watched at 3rd I San Francisco International South Asian Film Festival in Roxie Theatre. Bechdel test: ✅
A beautiful, unsettling piece that lingers in life’s own contradictions. A dark comedy that digs into the weight survivors of assault carry, especially when they are not believed. It balances the weight trauma and the almost absurd feelings of trying to move forward afterward. There’s some great compositions and there may be a few too many threads to connect but it finds its way back. Really impressive knowing Uttera Singh both directed and led the film, that singular voice shapes this film. Dallas International Film Festival 26'
