However, when Phyllis begins to suffer nightmares and wakes up with blood on her hands, Phyllis is convinced an old family curse has caught up with her ...She-Wolf of London is a mystery horror film directed by Jean Yarbrough.Yarbrough's film is another, very good-looking effort by Universal, albeit an unusual one, more a mystery than horror film. It's quite atmospheric as well, with fog floating through very well made sets, and overall very good cinematography.However, the movie's biggest flaw is the fact it doesn't deliver what it promises, taking away from what could otherwise have been a rather atmospheric, albeit predictable mystery film.In conclusion, She-Wolf of London is sadly hampered by a predictable story and false advertising, turning it into a good-looking, but otherwise disappointing mystery film.

A slice of Gothic mystery from Universal Pictures that makes promises it doesn't deliver. She-Wolf of London focuses on a young heiress who believes she is the victim of a family curse which involves her transforming into a werewolf at night and then going out and killing people. An idea confirmed by a stack of dead bodies piling up in the local area. You'd be forgiven for thinking that this is a werewolf movie going in given the suggestion of the title, but instead it has rather more in common with something like Cat People. Of course it is nowhere near as compelling as the Val Lewton masterpiece, but it's not a total dead loss either. It benefits from a good cast and a generally interesting brooding mystery. Director Jean Yarbrough delivers some good atmosphere in places - the scenes involving thick fog are a particular highlight. Of course it spon becomes apparent that all is not as simple as it seems - and it really doesn't take too much brain power to work out exactly what is going on - but its still a decent time getting there and at just an hour long, the film hardly outstays its welcome.
