Well getting teary over a documentary about Simple Plan wasn’t on my bingo card but alas here I am tearing up over a documentary about Simple Plan.

Okay. I never liked these guys. But I thought I’d give this a look while scrolling through Prime.Now I like them even less.First of all, this isnt a documentary. This is just the band members jerking each other off for an hour and a half and talking about how awesome they think they are.Secondly, I always thought these guys were just a bunch of disingenuous wannabes. Turns out I was right in that assumption. Remember that song “Perfect”? That whiny emo bullshit song about how “nOThiNg I eVeR Do iS gONnA bE gOOd eNoUGh fOr mY dAd” Yeah well it was all completely fabricated nonsense. It was written by the lead singer and the drummer. Both of their sets of parents participated in this “documentary”Bro……most supportive fucking parents I’ve ever seen. The drummer’s parents got him his first drum set when he was like 12 and their basement was where the band formed and practiced all the time……The lead singers Dad is like the most adorable old man youve ever seen…..When they first got signed to a label and went on tour……This dude DROVE THE TOUR BUS……They were interviewing him for the doc and hes like probably in his late 70s early 80s now……His cell phone starts ringing during the interview and his ringtone is a fucking Simple Plan tune.Yo seriously. Fuck these guys…….also isnt their bass player a convicted sex monster or something? Yeah they quickly glossed over that one during their 94 minute circle jerk.

Watched it with my little sis cause we've loved Simple Plan since I was like 11 and she 9 — now at 30 and 28, they feel like an old high school friend we're always happy to hear from ♥︎ (except in 2020)Hope I get to see them before they're a buncha guys in their 60s singing about teenage angst... mostly cause I'd be on my 50s and my knees, I assume, will be bags of crackers by then.Shout-out to Chuck for being the real MVP and to their dad's for being the cutest most supportive canadian dads ever. It must've been weird to hear your sons who you've supported for years sing "Perfect"
