Day 1 of Frightfest and I had an absolute blast with Slay. I've been invested in this film since I first heard about it. I was a massive fan of Kyra Gardner's Life With Chucky documentary and contributed towards its Kickstarter. This is the first slasher I've seen in ages that has felt fresh and not super cynical. It's got just the right level of comedy for me to make it really fun without feeling goofy. While its very much got its own style and originality, there is love for and nods to the genre all over it.All the cast are fantastic, especially our final girl and co-writer Zoey Luna who brings a lot of layers and warmth to a character who could have come across a lot more shallow if the writing and performance weren't as strong.I really hope Slay gets distribution soon so more people can see it!
