who knew stealing a diamond could be So Much Fun!!!
Halfway through the movie I said “Oh- it’s a Blue Streak!” Some would say to that “Well no, Demi, Blue Streak came out after this movie. If anything, Blue Streak is a The Hot Rock.” Wrong! All heist movies are Blue Streaks. Rififi? Blue Streak alpha. The Italian Job? É una stricsia blu! Ocean’s Eleven? Obviously a Blue Streak. Oceans are blue! Eleven is a streak of ones! They didn’t even try to hide it! “Hurt” belongs to Johnny Cash, and heists belong to Blue Streak! The Hot Rock is good!
A heist movie that dares to ask…what if instead of just one, we did a BUNCH of heists?
Dortmunder and his crew plan to steal a huge diamond from a museum, only to find themselves forced to steal it repeatedly after various mishaps.
The film was directed by British filmmaker Peter Yates in 1972.
The film received favorable reviews for its witty screenplay by William Goldman but did not capture major international festival prizes.
