As she turns forty - an age doctors once said she would never reach - Emma Fogarty, who lives with the rare and extremely painful condition Epidermolysis Bullosa, takes up an offer from longtime friend Colin Farrell; they agree to run the Dublin Marathon together, with Colin pushing Emma's wheelchair for the final four kilometres. Also follow their lives and the enduring friendship that has sustained them through the years.

obviously super inspiring story and hope the Irish government have made steps to improve funding for rare diseases! (but also maybe when we do q&as can we not make your question so woe is me when you have such fantastic presence in emma and Colin and filmmaking crew infront of us amd could ask some meaning questions!
it feels wrong rating this doc because i am just so in awe of both emma and colin and it was so lovely to see their friendship and perseverance both through the screen and in their q&a afterwards. what lovely people they seem to be!!!
i’ve not cried like that in a while. i had never heard of EB until today but now i will be excited to donate to the charity highlighted in this documentary and to see research turn into change for emma and the other people surviving this rare disease. colin and emma’s friendship is the driving force of this film, alongside experiences of grief in their two families, from colin’s story of addiction, his father, and his son james who has angelman syndrome, to emma’s parents (and their faith vs their daughter’s), her sister, and her own reckoning with her mortality and a growing lack of independence. it’s not just fitting to say that this is an inspiring film; emma’s final point of the q&a after it was about living life to the fullest and you can see her doing exactly while watching. she still struggles with everything she can’t do: she’s never touched the sea, she reckoned with the idea of coming to london for the film festival this weekend, and she is in constant pain. but she is able to live that life, despite the discouraging words of doctors 40 years ago, because of the love and care of her parents, that of nurses and other healthcare professionals today who give her hope, and her own resolve. the documentary will be streaming on hbo max and everyone must watch itbest foot forward!with a post-film q&a by director rachel fleit, colin farrell, and emma fogarty
